| Christopher Johns is from England and has 14 years of
experience as a theatre sound designer and 9 years experience as a
theatre educator. His career as a sound designer included working at the
Bristol Old Vic, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Royal National
Theatre. Christopher worked as sound designer with many well known
directors, including, Sir Richard Eyre, Michael Bogdanov, Phylida Lloyd,
Nicholas Hytner, Trevor Nunn, Robert Leplage,to mention a few. He also
worked as a freelance sound designer and production engineer working on
many tours of productions and overseeing the final transfers into the West End. He spent time working as an engineer at Peter Gabriel's recording studio Real World, working with many international recording artists, including Peter Gabriel, Wet, Wet, Wet and Labi Sifre and numerous artists from the Real World Label. As an educator Christopher worked at Bridgwater College teaching and developing the various programmes in music recording, music technology and sound for television. He moved to Hong Kong in 1998 to take up the position of Senior Lecturer in Theatre Sound Design at the Hong Kong academy for Performing Arts. In September 2006 Christopher became Head of the Department of Entertainment Design and Technology, comprising of lighting, sound and technical direction. He has been instrumental in the design and implementation of the new MFA programme that will be offered from September 2007. While in Hong Kong Christopher has continued as a sound designer
working on Academy production as well as productions outside of the
Academy such as the premier of “All Hallows Eve” staring Maggie Q. |
