Sam Trubridge

Sam Trubridge directs and designs with The Playground, and teaches performance design at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. His most recent production, The Restaurant of Many Orders, has been shown at the Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, London; and at Te Whaea National Centre for Dance and Drama, Wellington. It will open in January 2007 at Teatro Studio di Scandicci, Florence and the Japanese Institute in Rome. As a designer that directs theatre, his interest is in the visual and material experience of performance, where the pre-theatrical is explored through states of sleep, infancy, mechanisation, and the spectacular.
