Born in Münster (Westphalia/Germany) on 1.3.1954, Uwe Köhler graduated
from school in 1973. He first studied Fine Arts at the Universities of
Münster and Düsseldorf from 1973-79, before attending the actor’s school
Ecole de Jacques Lecoq and Philippe Gaulier, Paris, from 1984-85 and
lecturing as professor for Visual Theatre in the Scuola Internazionale
di Teatro di Roma, Italy, from 1986-1989. Uwe Köhler is founding member, actor and artistic director of Theater Titanick, a street theatre company founded in 1990 as a cooperation between Western and Eastern German artists. Since 1994, Theater Titanick has toured four continents and 16 European countries with ten different productions. Apart from his work with Theater Titanick, Uwe Köhler has lectured at several universities around the world on themes of street theatre, From 2005-2007 he has taken part as guest professor in the yearly Antwerp Design Seminars & Lectures weeks at the Higher Institute of Architectural Sciences Henry van de Velde, Antwerp, Belgium. Since 2006, Uwe Köhler is Chairman of the newly founded National Association for Street Theatre in Germany. |
