The Island of Birds (BDA_CS02)
     
Our goal is to explore topics initiated by Aristophanes’ The Birds, to “place” them on the specific location of the Major War Island in Belgrade, and to rethink cultural landscapes and mediating role of art.  
Observed location, The Major War Island is situated in the “center” of Belgrade, at the point where two big rivers (Sava and Danube) “get together”. It is not inhabited by people, only by birds.
The Island of Birds is developed with students of Scene Design at the course of Architecture of Performing Space and it will present various approaches and formats, from urban planning to video works. Final format of The Island of Birds is open, community based web site www.ostrvoptica.com.
