The Birds: METAMPRPHOSIS, The Performer in Time & Space (BDA_UK03) |
|||||
|
The objective of this project was to present the birds as the historical
Peacock men to contrast the modern unfashionable man, represented by the
protagonists and the rest of the mortals in the play. Furthermore, the
mortals are designed as outmoded commuters trying to escape from the
smothering reality of city life, whereas the birds are presented as
flamboyant creatures that echo the fashionable man lost in history. The
two protagonists however, as men who abandon the city life, are
presented as two boring commuters who strip away elements of their
ordinary clothes and transform on stage into exotic birds. The play was
set as an all male cast. One of the transforming costumes was realised,
photographed and filmed in action. |
