The Birds Mechanical Theatre Project (BDA_UK09) |
||
| The Birds
Mechanical Theatre Project is the result of an exciting collaboration
between Theatre Design and Scenic Arts students. Starting from the text
of Aristophanes The Birds, students have created kinetic and automotive
structures which have wit, character, movement and travelling
possibilities. Each piece is highly individual, made from a variety of materials, found objects and industrial debris. The kinetic ‘creatures’ serve as a visual metaphor for the humour and ingenuity expressed by the characters within the play.The project itself extends the student’s skills in the design and manufacture of a complex object for performance; through creative collaboration and the exploration of function, form and narrative.
