| Design for
Opera is a five week conceptual studio based project, on offer to second
year undergraduate and postgraduate Royal Welsh College designers.
Choosing from a range of operas, speculative designs are created as
final scale models and drawings for Wales’ Millennium Centre main stage
– home to Welsh National Opera, who are project co-collaborators. This
year we have kindly been given permission to include in our operas ‘The
Birds’ composed by Ed Hughes, with its wonderful poetic libretto by Glyn
Maxwell - first performed by The Opera Group, London, in 2005.This is a
very exciting opportunity to work on contemporary opera and share design
concepts through new music theatre derived from Aristophanes’ classic
masterpiece. |
