“The Birds: Formerly Utopia.” (BDA_US01)

A look which explores the birds as a “High Society Community” that is brought to it’s knees by the sly and conniving Euelpides and Pisthetærus. The two “heroes” of Cloud Cuckoo land attract the vermin of Athens and corrupt a once beautiful society with the dynamic impact of a wall. The destruction of utopia turns into a corrupt situation. I was visually drawn to the beauty of Zsolnay Porcelain to represent the environment of the birds. In the bold colors and elegant shapes I often found the silhouettes of many bird like shapes. The same lines were also present in the work of architect Hector Guimard. I used these two sources to inspire my design and help tell the story.
