Birds exhibition: The Vir(tu)al Birds

Growing up by the sea on an isolated farm deep in South New Zealand, Davis is an environmentally conscious designer. She expresses these concerns in her work for ‘The Vir(tu)al Birds’: ‘Mass Beat’, where natural sounds and objects compete with artificial patterns and rhythms. This installation uses the invisible force of bass frequencies to manipulate materials such as beads, tinfoil, and dye to express the dictatorship of the televised medium upon the masses. Immersed in dance and music tuition from a young age, Davis has always been consumed by her interest in performance. During college she discovered her love for speech and drama, art and design, and continues to investigate ways that these interests can be combined to explore new qualities of theatre, performance art, dance, music, and film.
