Peter Cooke, PhD : A graduate of the first NIDA Design Course in 1974, Peter is the Deputy Director and Head of Design at NIDA. He has designed over one hundred and fifty productions in Australia, India, England and the USA. He was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1990 and spent a year at the Yale School of Drama as a Special Research Fellow in 1996/97. Career highlights include designing the costumes for the Opening Concert of Expo 88, the NSW Royal Bicentennial Concert and led the NIDA Flag Handover Ceremony team at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. Peter completed his PhD at UNSW in 2002, researching the notion of identity in Australian theatrical design. Peter has conducted design workshops in India, Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia and Tonga. Peter's book, Yale School of Drama - Theatre Design Training, was published in 1999.
