The Fine Arts School of Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)
was founded in 1816, by João VI, the King of Portugal and Brazil. It was
formerly formed by neoclassic french artists that had arrived in Rio de
Janeiro in the beginning of the 19th Century.. Since then, the Fine Arts School distinguishes itself being a cultural organism, dedicated to the formation of a new artistic culture in each period, and developing in a total and harmonic way the creativity of all students. |
