The Central School of Speech and Drama
 BA Theatre Practice

Founded in 1906, and now an independent member college of the University of London, The Central School of Speech and Drama ( is one of the pre-eminent Drama schools in the United Kingdom, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs and training for the dramatic arts and the performance and media industries.  Central has built an international reputation for “total” theatre training—working closely with the theatre and performing arts industries to provide both traditional and up-to-the-minute knowledge and skills training across the wide range of disciplines necessary to create live performance.  There are three undergraduate programmes (BA-Theatre Practice; BA-Acting; and BA-Drama, Applied Theatre and Education) and a portfolio of specialist postgraduate programmes—from PGCE Drama to taught Masters and MPhil/PhD degrees—as well as a School for Professional and Community Development. Central has the largest specialist drama-related postgraduate cohort in the UK.

In January 2005 the college was designated the UK’s Centre for Excellence in Training for Theatre (CETT) by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. The CETT fosters collaborative activity and cutting-edge theatre practice, providing a national resource for vocational performing arts training and learning, a focus for theatre research and scholarship, and a site for collaboration between industry, Higher Education, and specialist training providers
