The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Oregon offers Bachelor of Arts, Master of Fine Arts, and Doctoral degrees within a liberal arts context. Undergraduates and graduates study theatre from both the scholarly and the practical perspectives, for a broad based foundation in the field. University Theatre produces up to eight productions per year in two theatres, a proscenium house and a flexible space. Student designers and technicians create the visual elements for the productions, and have opportunities for their work to be produced. Graduates achieve careers in teaching, design, technology, and as independent entrepreneurs. The faculty includes a scenic designer, costume designer, lighting designer/technical director, and staff costume shop manager and scene lab technician.
